本サイトは、広大なインターネットの海に散らばっている、「菌類」に関する情報を集約する目的で作成されました。

本サイトを作ろうと思ったきっかけ：

「生物種を入力すると、その種に関するまとまった情報が得られる」ページが、意外とこれまでになかったように思います。MycobankやSpecies fungorumなどで、学術的な情報（分類の変遷、標本、分布、記載文など）はまとめられていますが、個人サイトを含めた「Web図鑑」へのアクセスは、googleなど一般的な検索エンジンでしか行えなかったように思います。

野外で見つけた生物を同定したり、生物に関する基本的な情報を集めたりする場面では、必ずしも学術的なデータベースが求められているわけではなく、むしろより親しみやすい、一般向けの記述が有用なこともあると思います。そこで、アマチュア・プロの別なく、多くの人に親しんでいただけることを目標として、このリンク集を作成いたしました。

「反権威」と「ゆるふわ」という、一見かけ離れた2つの単語が私の思想を端的に表しています。

私の「反権威」の思想は、医学分野の「エビデンスに基づく医療（EBM）」に大きく影響を受けています。EBMでは科学的判断の根拠として、「無作為化比較試験のメタアナリシス」を頂点とし、「専門家の経験や権威」を最も低いレベルに置いています。分類学においても同様に、科学的判断は「適切な手段で収集、統合された大量の情報」をもとになされるべき、と考えています。つまり、例えば野外で採れたきのこ1本を同定するのに、「あの先生（あるいは名人）がそう言っていたから○○タケに違いない」、というようなことを無くしていきたいのです。

そのために、「アマチュアでも容易かつ大量に信頼性の高いデータを得ることを可能にする技術的、システム的基盤の構築」、「過去の知見（学術論文や標本情報）のデータベース化によるアクセシビリティ向上」を推進します。これにより、「一人の専門家」や「一冊の図鑑」に依存しない、より再現性、信頼性の高い同定、分類が可能になると考えます。本Webサイトは当面、後者の課題に取り掛かる予定ですが、前者についてもアイデアを温めています。

「ゆるふわ」は、つまり「カジュアル・サイエンス」を端的に表す単語として選んだものです。学閥の羈絏を遁れ、名誉も報酬も求めないアマチュアという立場であるからこそ、学問と文化、芸術、その他の趣味とのマージナルな領域を発展させ、交流を促進する立ち位置を求めることができるのではないかと考えます（専門家の方が稚拙を愧じて使わないような平易な言い回しも、私は平気で用います）。ついでに言うと、私の性格が「ゆるふわ」とは程遠いので、少しそういう生き方に憧れているという背景があります。

The seemingly unrelated terms “anti-authoritarian” and “yuru-fuwa (laid-back)” succinctly capture the essence of my philosophy.

My “anti-authoritarian” stance is heavily influenced by the concept of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) in the field of healthcare. In EBM, the highest level of scientific judgment is attributed to “meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials,” while “expert opinions and authority” are ranked at the lowest level. Similarly, I believe that in taxonomy, scientific judgments should be based on “a large volume of information collected and integrated using appropriate methods.”

For example, when identifying a single mushroom collected in the field, I aim to eliminate practices such as determining the species based solely on statements like, “That professor (or expert) said it’s such-and-such mushroom, so it must be correct.”

To achieve this, I advocate for two key initiatives:

Building technical and systematic foundations that allow amateurs to easily and abundantly collect highly reliable data.
Enhancing the accessibility of past knowledge (e.g., academic papers and specimen information) by creating databases.
I believe these efforts will enable more reproducible and reliable identification and classification processes, free from reliance on “one expert” or “one field guide.” This website will initially focus on the latter initiative, but I am also nurturing ideas for the former.

As for “laid-back,” I chose this term as a concise representation of “casual science.” From my position as an amateur unbound by academic hierarchies, seeking neither fame nor compensation, I aim to promote and develop the marginal areas where science intersects with culture, art, and other hobbies. I believe this position allows for more fluid exchange and growth in these interdisciplinary fields.

For instance, I readily use simple expressions that experts might hesitate to employ for fear of appearing unsophisticated. Incidentally, my personality is far from “laid-back,” so this choice of term also reflects a bit of admiration for that way of life.
