ドイツ、バーデン＝ヴュルテンベルク州の地下空間においてヒメガガンボ科のLimonia nubeculosaに発生した菌を検討し、Akanthomyces ampulliferと同定した。
本研究では初めて本種の培養菌株とDNAバーコードを取得した。
本種は低温に適応しており、25°Cで生長しない一方、10°Cで最も活発に胞子を形成した。

Study on species diversity of Akanthomyces (Cordycipitaceae, Hypocreales) in the Jinyun Mountains, Chongqing, China
中国重慶市においてAkanthomyces属菌の種多様性を調査し、14体の感染したクモを採集した。
A. bashanensisとA. beibeiensisの2新種を記載した。
また、形態形質および分子系統解析の結果からA. tiankengensisを同定した。
