ロシア、イルクーツク州のバイカル湖地域で採集された地衣を検討し、Gyalidea asteriscus subsp. gracilisporaと同定した。

これを機に、イルクーツク州立大学の標本を再検討した結果、ロシアで採集されたすべての標本がこの亜種と同定された。

本亜種は従来中国固有種と考えられていたが、アジア地域産標本が全てこの亜種に属する可能性を指摘した。
