ロシア、サンクトペテルブルクの公園においてコナラ属樹木の根に生じたMeripilus giganteusを報告した。

本種のサンクトペテルブルクおよびロシア亜寒帯域からの記録は初であり、既知のヨーロッパにおける分布域からはかなり離れていた。

本種は世界的には乾燥した暖かい土壌条件を選好し、この場所での発生は人工排水の人為的な影響によるものと考えられた。
