モデル生物Podospora anserinaの学名をTriangularia anserinaに変更する提案を契機に、本種の系統分類を再検討した。

現在利用可能な分子マーカーが不十分であることを指摘して本種の改名が時期尚早であることを示し、元の学名を保持するべきことを主張した。

暫定的にTriangulariaをPodosporaのシノニムとし、Podospora属の基準種を変更するか、あるいは全てのポドスポラ科の種を同属に含めることを提案した。
