IgG4関連硬化性疾患の74歳男性の生検試料から分離された皮下褐色糸状菌症の病原菌を検討し、新属新種Hongkongmyces pedisとして記載した。
イトラコナゾール投与により臨床的寛解が得られたのと一致して、本種はアゾール系薬剤に対する感受性を有していた。
分子系統解析で本種は独自の系統を形成し、ClohesyomycesおよびLindgomyces属と近縁であった。

米国の3州で淡水に沈んだ材から見出された菌をLindgomyces angustiascusとして新種記載した。
本種はLindgomyces属の既知種6種とは、子嚢や子嚢胞子の形態、SSU+LSU、ITSに基づく分子系統解析などで明瞭に区別された。
本種の二次代謝産物を分析したところ、6E,9E-オクタデカジエン酸およびエルゴステロール過酸化物が主成分として見出された。
