中国安徽省において植物残渣から分離された菌を検討し、Neoconidiobolus pseudothromboidesとして新種記載した。
本種は形態的にN. thromboidesに類似していたが、最大生長温度が低く、生長速度が遅い点などが異なっていた。
分子系統解析では本種はN. thromboidesよりもN. lachnodesに近縁であった。
