中国雲南省の小川において沈んだ材に生じた菌を検討し、Lentithecium cangshanenseとして新種記載した。

本種は子嚢果が球形、子嚢が倒棍棒形～円筒形、子嚢胞子が帯黄色～褐色紡錘形であることなどで特徴づけられた。

分子系統解析で、本種はプレオスポラ目レンティセシウム科クレードにおいて独自の系統を形成した。
