オマーンおよびパキスタンにおいてマンゴーに深刻な病害を引き起こしている病原菌を検討し、Ceratocystis manginecansとして新種記載した。

本種は広義のC. fimbriata複合種とは形態的に異なり、分子系統解析でも異なる系統を形成した。

本種と比較したブラジル産の標本もこの複合種の別の隠蔽種とみられたが、2菌株しか検討していないことから新種記載しなかった。
