米国のミシガン州、ノースカロライナ州、およびバージニア州においてAbies fraseriの植物検疫で見出された昆虫病原菌をConoideocrella luteorostrataと同定した。
本種のツガコノハカイガラムシからの報告は初となった。

分子系統解析の結果からMyrotheciomyces属をTrichothecium属のシノニムとした。
