Ryvarden emphasizes the absence of a cuticle (horny crust) from Ps. cucullatus, but I have not found this to be the case. A collection from Brazil (Manaus, 25 Sept. 1948, Corner 925) agreed in all respects with var. cucullatus but the tubes were sublamellate. In some of its fruit-bodies the pores were set more or less in radial rows and, in places, the radial dissepiments were developed into gill-flanges up to 10 mm long radially and 1 mm deep.)
