本種は襞が弓状垂生し、傘縁部および襞縁部のシスチジアに珊瑚状突起を有し、柄シスチジアが厚壁、実質の菌糸がKOHで顕著に橙褐色～赤褐色に呈色することなどで特徴づけられた。

本種は同属他種と肉眼的形態、顕微鏡的形態、およびITSとnrLSUに基づく分子系統解析で区別された。
