Phylogeny and nomenclature of the genus Talaromyces and taxa accommodated in Penicillium subgenus Biverticillium
複数遺伝子に基づく分子系統解析で、Talaromyces属菌とBiverticillium節菌は単系統群を形成し、アオカビ属菌の他の亜属と明瞭に区別された。
また、全てのタイプ菌株について二次代謝産物をまとめた結果からも、Biverticillium亜属がアオカビ属菌の他の亜属と異なることが示された。
1F=1Nの理念に則り、Talaromyces属の属概念を拡張し、Biverticillium亜属の疑問種・要検討種以外の全種を移す分類学的措置を行った。

インドにおいてTerminalia bellericaの果実およびリターから分離された菌を検討し、Talaromyces amyrossmaniaeとして新種記載した。
本種は天然基質上では鮮橙赤色～橙赤色の柄と帯灰緑色の頭部を有するシンネマを形成し、Trachyspermi節の種としては有限生長のシンネマを形成する初の種となった。
本種は分生子柄が典型的には二輪生でフィアライドが針状、分生子表面が平滑または僅かに粗面であり、暗橙色～赤色の色素を産生することなどで特徴づけられた。

本種はフィアライドが幅狭い針状、分生子が類球形～楕円形、培養下で形成するシンネマが自然界のものより顕著に短いことなどで特徴づけられた。
本種は分子系統解析で独自の単系統群を形成し、同属他種とはシンネマの長さやコロニーの色などが異なっていた。
