discussion

位置
Ramaria pinicola is a common species occurring in the woods of western Washington. In form, color, and the lignicolous habit it seems closely related to R. stricta, and yet it distinctly differs from that species by having smooth spores, and monomitic rhizomorphs (Corner and Thind, 1961). Petersen (1967) points out that the colored spores put R. pinicola within the present circumscription of Ramaria, but the smooth spores show affinity with the genus Lentaria. Despite the considerable variation in size, form and coloration exhibited by the fruiting bodies of R. pinicola, microscopic characteristics readily distinguish it from all other species included in this work. Examination of the type of C. stillingeri (NCU) and of C. pinicola (NCU, Cotype W-16946) confirm that they are the same (Corner, 1970) Lachnocladium odoratum Atkinson (CUP-A, Type 18618), although a different species, seems to be closely related to R. pinicola. Additional study of North American species, described as Lachnocladium and Lentaria, must be done before R. pinicola can be placed in proper perspective with closely related species. [1]
