A new endophytic insect-associated Daldinia species, recognised from a comparison of secondary metabolite profiles and molecular phylogeny
Xiphydria prolongataの菌嚢から分離されたDaldinia属エンドファイトの形態、生態、分子系統、二次代謝産物プロファイルを比較検討し、D. hawksworthiiとして新種記載した。
本種から他のDaldinia属約250菌株から見出されなかった特異なピロン化合物を検出し、分子構造を決定してダルシンビオピロン (dalsymbiopyrone) と命名した。
当該化合物は弱い抗菌活性および細胞毒性を示し、菌-宿主植物-共生昆虫の三者間相互作用に関連している可能性が考えられた。
