Colletotrichum echinochloae, a new species on Japanese barnyard millet (Echinochloa utilis)
栃木県において葉枯病を発現したヒエから分離された菌を検討し、Colletotrichum echinochloaeとして新種記載した。
本種は当初広義のC. graminicolaと同定されたが、分生子のサイズおよび形状、培養性状、病原性などが明らかに異なっていた。
本種は分生子が短い鎌形であることなどで特徴づけられ、接種試験ではヒエに対する特異性が示され、分子系統解析では単系統群を形成した。
